Hong Kong Gap Year

Requirements

Apart from the requirement that those who go to Hong Kong as Teaching Assistants must be Native English Speakers, for whom English is their first language, there are no other formal requirments. What is looked for, above all, is a warm outgoing personality which the children will find attractive.

Experience has shown that the year in Hong Kong is suitable for those who have just finished their "A" levels and plan to go to University at the end of a 'Gap Year.' It is also suitable for those who have just graduated from University and may be thinking about a career in teaching.

While regular Church going is not required from those who go to Hong Kong it is the case that they will be working within a Christian environment and so will need to be sympathetic towards the Christian faith. Although most of those who are invited to go to Hong Kong are Anglicans, again, this is not a requirement. Most recently a Roman Catholic and a Baptist have been accepted as suitable.
